During a video conference with His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the Ukrainian World Congress leaders discussed a number of important humanitarian, socio-economic and other issues which aim at supporting the Ukrainian communities in the world. The conversation was attended by President of the UWC Pavlo Grod, First Vice President Stefan Romaniv, Vice President Andriy Futey, UWC Executive Director Maria Kupriyanova and UWC Representative in Ukraine Serhiy Kasianchuk.

The UWC President outlined some of the new initiatives of the UWC Working Group, in particular, effective joint assistance to those most in need in Ukraine and abroad, as well as "virtual pastoral care" to support the spiritual well-being of communities.  The interlocutors emphasized the importance of the joint work of the Church, the diaspora and international humanitarian organizations to respond effectively to the effects of the pandemic.

“Even the new conditions of quarantine isolation cannot deprive us of our sense of community.  We are learning to be together in a new reality.  Spiritual leadership continues to be an important foundation for the unity of our communities in the world, and we are grateful to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church for its wise guidance and support in this challenging time.  We are building and coordinating new global areas of cooperation in the challenges of today and in the post-quarantine world,” said UWC President Pavlo Grod.
