UGCC Primate comes to Canada

His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shewchuk) arrived on May 31, 2012 in the Edmonton Eparchy as part of his first pastoral visit to Canada. The UGCC Primate was greeted in the Calgary Airport by Bishop Davyd (Motiuk), of Edmonton Eparchy together with representatives of clergy, monastic orders and laity, reported Sister Emanuella Kharyshyn, SSMI.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shewchuk) arrived on May 31, 2012 in the Edmonton Eparchy as part of his first pastoral visit to Canada.  The UGCC Primate was greeted in the Calgary Airport by Bishop Davyd (Motiuk),    of Edmonton Eparchy together with representatives of clergy, monastic orders and laity, reported Sister Emanuella Kharyshyn, SSMI. On Saturday (2 June) the UGCC Head will participate in the centennial jubilee celebrations of the founding of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Calgary and on Sunday (3 June) he will visit St.  Stephen the Protomartyr Parish and will meet with UGCC faithful. From June 6th, Patriarch Sviatoslav will remain in Edmonton, and hold numerous meetings with clergy and monastic orders of the eparchy, students of bilingual Catholic schools, youth and lay organizations.  On Saturday (9 June) the UGCC Primate will participate in celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the appointment of Nykyta (Budko) as the first UGCC Bishop in Canada.  On the last day of his Canadian stay      (10 June), Patriarch Sviatoslav will lead a Pontifical Divine Liturgy at St. Josaphat  Ukrainian Cathedral in Edmonton.
