“Who really feels like a son or daughter of the Church - feels like a child of Mary,” Head of the UGCC in the video catechesis

Everyone has a patron saint, the saint whose name he bears and who intercedes for him in heaven. Everyone has a guardian angel, whom he must also call in prayer, because this angel prays for us before the Lord and protects us from evil in our earthly life. This was emphasized by the Head of the UGCC in a new issue of the video catechesis, the topic of which was a prayer to the Mother of God, saints and angels.

The Head of the Church explained that, in addition to the triune God, we can turn in prayer to other persons "who, although belonging to God's creation, play a very important role in our Christian life and the life of Christ's Church."

According to the Primate of the UGCC, the next to the Lord God, to whom we should pray, is the Blessed Virgin Mary.  "She is a certain icon of the Church, a mirror in which we can recognize ourselves, understand how to live and what it means to be part of the Church as the Body of Christ," he said.

The Blessed Virgin Mary, as the Head of the UGCC explained, plays a very important role in the life of the Church.  "She is the mediator of graces, the one who tirelessly covers us with Her Veil and prayer and intercedes with Her motherly prayer for us before her Son," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

In prayer we also turn to those who are our intercessors and worshipers in heaven.  And these are saints and angels: "They are part of the heavenly, glorified Church."

According to him, when we pray to the saints, we ask that those who are already contemplating the face of God  and rejoicing in eternal happiness, there, in heaven, pray for us.  The image of this prayer of the saints for us is the smoke of the incense  described in the book of Revelation, which rises before the heavenly throne of our Father.

The Head of the Church then explained that each person has a patron saint, the saint whose name he bears and who intercedes for him in heaven.  Everyone has a guardian angel, whom he must also call in prayer, because this angel prays for us before the Lord and protects us from evil in our earthly life.

"Therefore, in that prayer to the saints, we should learn to turn with filial trust to the Mother of God, and also not to forget about our guardian angel, about angels and saints in heaven who are part of the community of the Church," His Beatitude Sviatoslav called for the conclusion.

We remind you that the video project of "Zhyve Television" His Beatitude Sviatoslav: #clearly_about_complicated started on May 16, 2020.  In short videos, the Head of the UGCC explains important Christian truths.  The first issues of the program are devoted to prayer, in particular to its content and method.  You can watch the new parts of the catechesis of His Beatitude Sviatoslav on the Zhyve TV channel on YouTube or on Facebook page every Saturday at 9 p.m.
